Children
“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
(Matthew 18:5-6, NIV)

Missionaries

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.
(Malachi 3:10-12, NIV)

As individuals it is an important act of obedience, and an important act of worship when we give our tithe (10% of our income) to the Lord. Likewise, we believe that we should also tithe as a church body from the income that the Lord provides to our church. Therefore, we give 10% of every dollar given to this church to outside ministries which are working to expand the Kingdom of God. Currently, we give 5% to overseas missionaries, and another 5% to local “missionaries” who are working to help the least and the lost in Jesus’ name, or who are planting churches, or who are working in innovative ways to reach the lost with the Gospel.

Building Program
Over the past few years we have completed many improvements on the property the Lord has entrusted to our care, and we have many more planned for the future, with some in-progress right now.

Soon we will have a list of our plans to update, maintain, and improve the church property in one, three, and five, and ten year increments.

Salvation Army
Dr. Peter Drucker, in Forbes magazine, has called The Salvation Army, “the most effective organization in the U.S.” The Salvation Army is an Evangelical Christian Church, and all of the services they provide are an effort to fulfill what Jesus called the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 12:30-31, NIV).

We are pleased, at North Collins Wesleyan, to be partners with The Salvation Army in providing practical services to our community. Through our collaboration, we can provide assistance with food, clothing, diapers, baby formula, utility payments, bedding, furniture, medical prescriptions, dental, hearing aids, glasses, etc. We can also provide opportunities for children and teenagers to attend summer camp, holiday food baskets, and toys at Christmas.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
